Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your graciousness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

It’s important to note that Paul isn’t saying everything will be great all the time. Our choice to praise God and rejoice doesn’t always mean our circumstances will be perfect. As a matter of fact, sometimes we choose to praise God in spite of how things are going in life.

And look what this eventually leads to – the peace of God. Let’s choose to praise Him and rejoice in who He is – even when times are rough. When we do that, God has a way of granting us peace.
